Double Chocolate Cupcakes + Cute Wrappers!

It's a classic that I have finally mastered! I've found that a homemade chocolate cake is tough to perfect, but I made it happened this weekend!

A moist chocolate cupcake (with a Hershey's kiss inside) topped with a chocolate buttercream and semi-sweet choclate shavings.

And aren't these wrappers adorable? I got them from Shop Sweet Lulu who carries some of the most adorable party supplies ever! Cupcake wrappers, packaging, cake stands, balloons, and so much more! If you're planning a party, go visit them and thank me later!

What are your favorite sources for party supplies? I want to know!

Carrot Cupcakes with White Chocolate Cream Cheese Icing

Carrot cake has never been one of my favorites, but it is one of my husband's favorites. In fact his Groom's Cake was carrot cake and when I saw the recipe for these little cake, I immediately knew I had to try them out.

The twist with these is the white chocolate added to the tradition cream cheese icing. It just adds another layer to the flavor and it. is. awesome! The cake itself is moist and spicy. Seriously, it's heaven!

These make a great "end-of-summer" dessert because the cinnamon and nutmeg bring up thoughts of your favorite fall foods! And, I don't know about you, but I am counting down the days for cooler weather!

Trends: Beautifully Vintage

We are so in love with the Vintage trend! It's been on the up & up for a couple of years now, and I don't think it will be leaving anytime soon. The great thing about this style, is that it can be low maintenance and beautiful simultaneously. Of course you can create a vintage design with expensive items and meticulously placed decorations, but you can just as easily create something stunning with flea market finds. Breathe new life into old tea cups and saucers or use left over fabric scraps for napkins or a garland (like below). The options are truly endless because nothing needs to really match.

Take a look at the design board below for some inspiration!

Sugar & Spice Dessert Table via Amy Atlas. Framed Seating Chart - Not sure where I found it (please link if you know!). Floral garland via Ruffled Blog. Ruffled cake from Sweet & Saucy. Glass bottles from Luna Bazaar via Ruffled Blog. Floral invite via Amy Atlas.

Isn't it beautiful? So fun and whimsical! Think different desserts like pie, cotton candy, fruit tarts. Whatever your favorties are! You just can't mess up! If you're lucky, you might even have a vintage furniture rental company near you! In or near Houston, TX? Check out Recollections Vintage Rentals. Their inventory is beautiful and can help you take care of the bigger vintage items that could cost a pretty penny to purchase on your own!

Have you done an event or dessert table with a vintage twist? Please share!!

Inspiration from Everywhere: Vanilla Babies

I've been smack dab in the middle of several home makeover projects and with so many fun, new trends in home design, it was easy to be inspired. Our bedroom revamp was inspired by a card I bought for my best friend's nuptials and I craved a cupcake that looked just like it. Take a peek.

Here we have homemade vanilla cupcakes with a sweet vanilla butter cream. They are sweet and delicate and the tiny size is the perfect bite. These sweets would be perfect for a bridal shower or even a dessert reception.

What are you inspired by? Have you ever been inspired to make desserts based on something completely unrelated?

Mint Chocolate Cupcakes

We love ice cream and the summer months bring some serious heat in Texas so I thought that these Mint Chocolate Cupcakes would be a refreshing treat to have around.

These little cakes are made up of a moist chocolate cupcake with a mint chocolate ganache inside and topped with mint buttercream and Andes Mint pieces. Yum!

They're both decadent and light. A perfect summer dessert.

Sweet of the Month: Oreo Cupcakes

So, I've been a bit of a delinquent blogger this month. Busy, Busy, Busy! But, just because it's late, doesn't mean there shouldn't be a Sweet of the Month. Just today, I tried out a new recipe for Oreo Cupcakes and it. rocks!

The best thing about it? The cookie filling is in the icing! YUM!

Get ready, because Très Sweet Designs are going to be adding a lot more fun and unique cupcake flavors to our repertoire. Keep an eye on the blog and our website where we'll be dedicating a whole photo album to fun cupcakes!

What new flavors you ask? I can't name them all but the list will include Root Beer Float cupcakes and Chocolate cupcakes with a White Chocolate Ganache and Candied Bacon! Stay tuned!

Recap: The Denton Bridal Show

We had such a great time last weekend at the Denton Bridal Show. Lots of wonderful brides and wonderful vendors to meet! I was particularly excited to debut this table because it was different than anything I've put together recently. The past few months have yielded a lot of pink. But this table was bold with the dark purple against black and white but still gave off a slight vintage vibe with blueberry pie pop favors and matching bunting. (You all remember how I feel about bunting, right?) Take a look.

I'm in love with the small wedding cake trend. The couple can still participate in the cake cutting tradition while having lots of sweets for guests to enjoy. It's the perfect centerpiece to a dessert table.

Vanilla macaroons with raspberry chocolate ganache filling compliment the table perfectly. Macaroons have become so popular over the past year but they are still so pretty to look at and super yummy to eat!

I have to send a huge thank you to Joey of Joey's Focus for stopping by the show to take photos of the booth. Don't they look amazing?

Trends: Cake Bunting

Perhaps, the best thing about working with desserts is that sweets are just as fun to look at as they are to make and eat! I mean a good photograph can really be as great the real thing! (Not to mention photographs are low-fat!) So, you can imagine how excited I was when I first discovered the awesome-ness of "cake bunting". Take a simple, single tier cake and turn it into a show piece with this adorable little decoration!! Take a peek:

I first ran across it on Bump Smitten (which happens to be one of the cutest sites ever, and I don't even have kiddos!). Just look at the cake above. I'm already in love with anemones and the bold black and white bunting... well, it just makes me smile! More, more!!!

The Original! Kiki La Rue

Check out Kiki La Rue on Etsy. You can buy these adorable little buntings ready to go. They are the original masterminds behind this trend.

Lottie Loves DIY Instructions

Or go the DIY route and create your own. Honestly, I can't think of a more fun use for scraps of awesome, leftover fabric! What do you think about this trend? Do you love it?

Project Husband: Sean & Lauren

I've been working with Lisa Linehan of Project Husband over the past year and I have really fallen in love with her and this concept. Last year, Lisa set out on a mission to find her true love. She set her wedding date and coordinated all the components, the only thing she needed was a groom. Even though she didn't find her man, she's had quite the amazing journey.

But what about the amazing wedding that she didn't get to use? Well, Lisa did something amazing! She gave it away. A complete dream wedding with everything from the venue to the bridal shower included. Couples around the DFW area submitted their "Perfect Proposal" story and the audience cast votes for their favorite.

The winning couple is Lauren and Sean and they have an amazing story to share. Last fall Lauren was diagnosed with a rare form of vasculitis called Wegener's Granulomatosis. This auto-immune disease has no known cause or cure. Doctors determined that she had less than a 10 percent chance of surviving. Her health has been progressing forward, thankfully, and she and Sean have set a date for their dream wedding to take place! (Please read more about their story here. It is truly amazing!)

The great thing is I actually know Lauren from school. We were in the same scholarship program and studied in the same major and I am so excited to be a part of her big day.

Très Sweet Designs will be donating a completely custom dessert bar for Lauren's bridal shower. I am so excited to create something beautiful and sweet for her party!

Recap: Diamond Oaks Bridal Show

Well, my first bridal show came and went and now I feel like Très Sweet is finally up and running. I would describe this particular show as a trouble-shooting experience because, although, the end result of a dessert bar always appears effortless and beautiful, it can get a bit hectic. For this event I was inspired by this gorgeous design board from Kathryn at Snippet & Ink. I just love the freshness of this color palette!

This was actually the perfect scheme for an event at the Diamond Oaks Country Club. With the golf course and the big open windows, the preppy feeling ties the whole table together.

For this table, I chose vanilla macaroons, warm doughnut centers, meringue drops, and cream blueberry cheesecake. Wedding cake shaped sugar cookies were packaged as favors and a two-tiered wedding cake with navy and pale blue accents brought the design together. (Want to see the cool and unexpected inside of this cake?? Click here.)

When working with a small space, especially during a bridal show, it really helps to use the vertical space you have available. It will make your spread more dramatic without requiring large amounts of horizontal space. I also created "risers" covered in blue stripes to elevate the back plates.

I really did have a great time at Diamond Oaks Show. I met so many wonderful brides and vendors that I'm really looking forward to working with!

Some big things are coming up for Très Sweet Designs and you will definitely want to stay tuned! Happy Friday!

Sweet of the Month: Vanilla Macaroons

Yesterday was my first, official business debut at the Diamond Oaks Country Club. I had a great time meeting lots of great brides and wonderful vendors.

For this display, I tried all new recipes and one of my favorites were these vanilla macaroons! Macaroons have become so popular in the dessert world over the last year. They are so light and airy but also creamy with a sweet vanilla butter cream icing in between! These things just can't be beat. I can't wait to try more variations!

I'll be posting a more detailed recap of the table I set up for this particular show soon. So stay tuned!

Sweet of the Month: Pink Champagne Cupcakes with Vanilla Buttercream

Champagne cupcakes are just so delicate and airy. When I made these for my photoshoot, I was surprised at how much I loved them. The actual champagne flavor was very subtle and paired with the vanilla butter cream icing... it was love! So, because it is "the month of love" (or at least that's what I'm calling it) I deem these pretty, pink cupcakes the first Sweet of the Month!

Another shout out to my wonderful photographer, George Dean for being all around amazing!

Recap: My First Photoshoot

I've been planning for Très Sweet Designs for a long time and with rigorous planning, organizing, and a lot of creativity, I was lucky enough to be able to officially open the proverbial doors. My ultimate career goal since entering college was to become a small-business owner. The strength and courage it takes to create something from scratch is amazing and I knew I had to join this group of people!

So, all of the planning and strategizing finally came to fruition with my first photoshoot. The first display of product and talent. It had to be good! I chose the colors of pale pink and black because it was pretty, feminine, and is a good display without pigeon-holing myself into a specific style. It gave me room to be creative.

This design board started as a post for my personal blog and I was lucky enough to turn it into this:
I couldn't keep the smile off of my face when I finished setting up this table at the studio! It just turned out so great!
Pink champagne cupcakes with a vanilla butter cream icing. Dainty in appearance and taste!
Homemade marshmallows dipped in "pink" white chocolate and nonpareils. The stick is actually a "pocky" stick which is like a wafer dipped in strawberry cream. So, you can eat the whole thing! Yum!

Champagne with pink rock candy stirrers and some sweet kettle corn in customized boxes completed the table. The overall feel was light, airy, and delicate.
Then, my wonderful photographer, George Dean, got the idea to switch to a darker background to change the feel. The brown made the table rich and warm feeling. It's almost like I set up two different dessert bars. And don't these photos look amazing?

I had such a fun time setting this up and hanging out at the studio with George and I really couldn't be happier with the outcome. The best thing about George was that he was just as excited about my product as I was and I couldn't be more greatful for his help!

So, there it is. The recap of one of my first motions towards a beautiful and creative new business! Please be sure to see these photos in action on my website!
